Michigan workers affected by the pandemic are eligible for $500 in support. What happened?

Starting today, hospitality workers who have temporarily lost their jobs due to COVID-19 can receive up to $500 in aid.

The funds are available after a $2.5 million dollar grant was pushed through from the Michigan Department of Treasury to the Michigan Restaurant and Lodging Association, with support from governor Gretchen Whitmer.

To qualify, hospitality workers must provide proof of employment and notice of their furlough or termination.
