Even as CNN reports 100,000 people have ‘been observed’ crossing the border in the last month, the White House still won’t call it a crisis. Meanwhile, the mainstream media is rushing to make excuses for Biden while continuing to blame the Trump administration.

- Montana and Arizona are suing the federal government over the Biden administration’s 100-day moratorium on deportations (Texas previously won a lawsuit on the same issue) while Florida has taken the feds to court over an Immigration and Customs Enforcement directive the state says unconstitutionally limits its ability to prosecute illegal immigrants accused of committing a crime.
- As more people are shuttled across the border illegally, signs of growing organization and sophisticated tactics by cartels and coyotes have been reported: smugglers have begun using color-coded wristbands to help identify the “status” of those crossing.
- Amid the surge, in which CNN reports more than 100,000 have crossed the border in the last four weeks, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki still refuses to acknowledge the border situation as a crisis.
- House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy has announced he will lead a congressional delegation to the southern border to get an up-close look at the crisis after imploring Biden to meet with congressional Republicans and Democrats to discuss the immigration surge.
- Newsweek reported on the surge by pitting governors who have to deal with the day-to-day flood of people against the Biden administration which is struggling to strike “the delicate balance” of a “more humane immigration system.”
- Newsweek also ran a “fact check”, that apparently had to be corrected to ‘true’, on Sen. Ted Cruz’s claim that “millions of illegal immigrants would receive stimulus payments.”
- PBS framed the crisis as a “struggle” for the Biden administration, blaming literally everything on the Trump administration which they accuse of “send[ing] everyone back home without any process.”
- The New York Times interviewed the same policy analyst as PBS, which echoed the talking points that the border situation is a “challenge”, while framing it as a “potential political weapon for [Biden’s] Republican adversaries.”
- Conservative blog Hot Air highlights what may become a trend with Psaki, who has deflected when questioned about a top administration official’s remarks or statement, this time over a question about Homeland Security data on unaccompanied minors at the border.
- OANN reported on Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s “Operation Lone Star” which will fill the enforcement gap on the southern border left by the Biden administration’s unwillingness to deal with the crisis.
- Former President Trump weighed in on the crisis by blasting Democrats for stopping the construction of a border wall, as reported by The Federalist. The outlet characterized the situation as “brewing since the election, where soft rhetoric on immigration inspired Central Americans” to enter the United States illegally.
