British MP David Amess Stabbed to Death, Terrorism Suspected

Sir David Amess was stabbed while meeting with constituents. Media reports there may be a connection to terrorism.

David Amess, member of the British Parliament, died after being stabbed during a meeting with constituents on Friday.

Amess’ death has led to calls to reassess security for members of Parliament: Amess is the third MP to be attacked since 2010.
The attacker, a 25-year old British man, was apprehended and “revealed a potential motivation liked to Islamist extremism.”
Amess’ peers remembered him for his community service and “working hard for his constituents.”

BBC’s comprehensive coverage included analysis from their “Home and legal correspondent” providing insight into the next steps of the investigation, determining whether the attacker was a lone wolf or “part of a network.”
CNN highlighted concerns among members of Parliament over personal security, including one member who believes they should temporarily suspend face-to-face meetings with constituents.
The Daily Beast issued more stark and frank warnings over security, saying there is no protection at these constituent meetings “unless there is a specific threat” and “there is nothing to stop people with violent intent from attending.”

Fox News reported on the morbid and offensive comments of a liberal columnist who mocked Amess’ death, noting she is “a frequent MSNBC guest.”
The Daily Wire highlighted the potential connection to terrorism and extensively quoted Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s tribute to Amess.
Breitbart eschewed its traditional vitriolic politics, giving plenty of space for remembrances of Amess, who was “best known not for achieving high office but for his commitment” to his constituents.
