- The New York Times linked the donation to other recent royal scandals and reported “there is, however, no suggestion that either [brother] has sponsored, supported or been involved in any acts of terrorism.”
- The Guardian wrote Prince Charles insisted the trustees of his charity approved the donation and believed “the actions of one bin Laden family member should not tarnish the whole family.”
- CNN reported one brother, Bakr bin Laden, was the former chair of the family construction company when the company removed Osama bin Ladin as a shareholder in 1993.
- The Daily Mail noted this is just the latest of the heir’s financial dealings to draw scrutiny (sound familiar?). British police are currently investigating another shady contribution to his charity from yet another Saudi businessman.
- Fox News received assurances from the prince’s spokespeople that “thorough due diligence was undertaken in accepting this donation” and disputed reports that the royal was urged to return the funds.
- The Daily Wire reported in June that the prince took millions in cash stuffed in bags from an Arab sheikh. In multiple incidents between 2011-2015, the heir to the throne accepted suitcases, shopping bags and a duffle bag full of cash from the former prime minister of Qatar.
