The Justice Department on Monday opposed efforts to release the affidavit supporting the search warrant authorizing the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago.
Summary
The Justice Department on Monday opposed efforts to release the affidavit supporting the search warrant authorizing the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago.
- Prosecutors argued releasing the affidavit would âcause significant and irreparable damage to this ongoing criminal investigationâ and âserve as a roadmap to the governmentâs ongoing investigationâ that would be âlikely to compromise future investigative steps.â
- The affidavit contains the evidence the Justice Department used âto demonstrate they had probable cause to believe crimes were committed at Trump’s homeâ â the standard DOJ needed to meet to get a judge to sign off on the search warrant.
- The search warrant was made public Friday, and it identified âviolations of the Espionage Act, obstruction of justice and criminal handling of government records as reasons for the search.â
- Former president Donald Trump called for Attorney General Merrick Garland to release without delay the âcompletely unredactedâ affidavit for the sake of âtransparencyâ about what the former president called a âhorrible and shocking BREAK-IN.â
- Earlier Monday, Georgia prosecutors informed attorneys for Rudy Giuliani he was a target in the Fulton County district attorneyâs investigation into efforts by Trump and his associates to interfere in the 2020 election in the Peach State.
- The former New York mayor is set to testify before a grand jury Wednesday, and a federal judge ruled Monday that South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham must also testify before the grand jury about calls he made to Georgiaâs Secretary of State in January 2021.
- The New York Times reported the Justice Department fears releasing the affidavit could âlikely chillâ cooperation with witnesses and keeping it under wraps would protect their identities from death threats.
- The Washington Post noted many prominent mainstream media outlets supported Trumpâs bid to release the documents due to the âhistoric importance of these eventsâ and the publicâs âclear and powerful interest in understanding what occurred in these circumstances.â
- POLITICO assessed Trumpâs claims that he verbally declassified the records seized at Mar-a-Lago by FBI agents and concluded his claims are not as âunprecedented or outlandish an argument as widely believed.â
- The Wall Street Journal reported Attorney General Merrick Garland âdeliberated for weeksâ over approving a warrant application to search Mar-a-Lago. Garland faces a series of decisions in the coming weeks over whether to charge Trump, his associates, or Hunter Biden.
- National Review wrote Garland is âon the path to the abyssâ as he weighs indicting Trump, which would be âone of the most consequential acts by the Justice Department in decades.â
- Fox News covered the former Presidentâs social media âtiradeâ in greater detail. In âhis latest rant against the FBI search of his home,â Trump wrote, âThere is no way to justify the unannounced RAID of Mar-a-Lagoâ and decried the âgun-toting FBI Agentsâ who searched Mar-a-Lago.

Releash NOW !!!!! Demo wimps afraid !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I doubt if Congress will hold them accountable. A lot of Bluster & Big Talk but these criminal FBI Agents should have been suspended without pay because of Durhams indictments & discovery. Their Arrogance astounds me! And to treat the American public like we r stupid and bullying Law Abiding critics of our Banana Republic. Anyone heard from Comey, McCabe, or Strok(whoever he is/was? Lisa Page too? They were all making so much noise and appearing on tv & writing books in a desperate attempt to deceive Americans. Hormones maybe? I know the answer already. Search and ur shall find. Fake News only reports what the Deep State tells them to. FOX is owned by Disney if u thought they were any different.
The DOJ Garland is in on this scam because President Trump derailed his path to the Supreme Court.
